Update #4

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing great! I'll start this update by showcasing the further improved ocean tech which now features a 3D wave system, foamy waves that crash on the shore, a better underwater water surface, and improved caustic effects.

Take a look!

I decided to add 3D waves not only because they make the ocean feel more natural but also because they make it more fun to navigate from a gameplay perspective, especially with the hoverboard.

Improved Swimming System

Because the ocean now features 3D waves, I had to add a buoyancy system to allow Paran to "adhere" to the water's surface. This required me to completely redesign the swimming system, from Paran’s controls to his swimming animations.

First look at the Status-Inventory System

Here's a preview of how the inventory is going to look, in particular the status page.

A few things to notice here:

  • A first look at the core stats that you'll be able to upgrade during Paran's journey.

  • Yes, there is magic in the game, at least in some form. But you’ll have to wait for more details on that!

  • I changed the main font of the game to one that better fits the overall style (The same goes for the website’s font).

Dynamic Hair

There's now the option to use dynamic hair for the main characters. Dynamic hair is powered by the latest Unreal Engine technology and provides great hair physics simulations, making Paran's movements all the more dynamic.

The new hair will behave according to the situation, meaning it will float underwater, be wet when swimming, and dry up in the sun when out of the water.

That's it for this update! Stay tuned for the next exciting update, which will feature improvements to the characters' locomotion systems, an expanded climbing move-set (running on walls included!), and a redesigned health bar!
